# WhatsApp

> Connect your number and continue your Darwin conversations in WhatsApp.

## Connect WhatsApp

1. Open [Darwin notification settings](https://darwin.so/settings?tab=notifications).
2. Under **Message your agent**, choose **WhatsApp**.
3. Enter your WhatsApp number with its country code and select **Connect**.
4. Select **Open WhatsApp**. Darwin opens the current live WhatsApp destination with your verification code already filled in.
5. Send the message, return to Darwin, and select **Check status**.

The number shown inside an empty phone field is only a formatting example. The **Open WhatsApp** link comes from Darwin's backend and always targets the live configured number; you do not need to find or type the destination manually.

You can also message Darwin's live WhatsApp line first. If your number is not connected, Darwin returns a private sign-in link that attaches the thread after you authenticate.

## What carries over

Darwin binds the verified WhatsApp thread to the same agent conversation used in the [Darwin web app](https://darwin.so). The agent can discuss work and create goals, while consequential actions retain the same funding and approval checks used by every other surface. Messages, goals, requests, and outcomes are shared records rather than WhatsApp-only copies.

If an action requires approval, wallet funding, identity verification, or another first-party control, Darwin links you to the appropriate secure flow. A message in WhatsApp cannot silently grant broader permissions or approve a money-moving action.

## Connection and privacy

Darwin stores the verified channel association needed to route messages; it does not ask for your WhatsApp password. The prefilled verification message contains a short-lived code tied to the signed-in account and current connection attempt. Do not forward it.

Remove the channel from **Settings → Notifications** to stop new WhatsApp messages from reaching the agent. If **Check status** does not confirm the connection, make sure the prefilled message was sent from the same number you entered, then start a fresh attempt instead of reusing an expired code.
